Hyderabad: Telangana Congress president N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Thursday alleged that AICC president Rahul Gandhi was not given the protocol being given for a member of Lok Sabha. In an informal interaction with media, he said that the government has so far not given permission for Rahul stay on the night of August 13 at Haritha Plaza Hotel.

Earlier, he spoke to Chief Secretary SK Joshi over telephone and expressed his angst over TRS government not willing to provide accommodation to Rahul at Haritha Plaza Hotel at Begumpet. He also sought clarification over Rahul Gandhi not being provided protocol as Member of Parliament. In response, the Chief Secretary promised that he would get back to him after collecting all details.

In his interaction with media, Reddy stated that by extending support to BJP-led NDA’s candidate in the Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman election, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has once again exposed his proximity to the BJP.
Uttam said that the TRS support to JD(U) candidate Harivansh Narayan Singh in the RS Deputy Chairman elections has proved once again that KCR's party was an undeclared ally of BJP and Chandrashekar Rao an agent of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also accused the Chief Minister of doing sycophancy to please PM Modi.

Speaking about the proposed visit of Rahul Gandhi to Hyderabad on August 13 and 14, Uttam alleged that the TRS leaders were resorting to cheap tactics to prevent a meeting in Osmania University. He said TRS leaders themselves were unable to enter OU campus. Therefore, they were using different means to sabotage Rahul Gandhi's interaction with OU students.

He said Rahul Gandhi has been invited by the students' union. However, he said the OU Vice-Chancellor was yet to take a final decision on granting permission for the meeting on August 14. Similarly, he alleged that TRS government was trying to prevent Rahul Gandhi’s meeting with Muslim community leaders by pressurising the management of the college where the meeting was scheduled.

The TPCC chief informed that Rahul Gandhi would address a massive public meeting at Serilingampally on August 13 and speak on different issues, including the problems of settlers in Hyderabad. On August 14, the AICC chief would also have a tele-conference with presidents of nearly 33,000 booths in Telangana which would be a kind of record in itself. He said that the Congress president would also have interaction with industrialists.

Later in the evening, the TPCC chief had a live interaction with party workers on social media platform, Facebook. He appealed all Congress workers to make the visit of Rahul Gandhi to Hyderabad a grand success. "This visit should be the most memorable for Rahul Gandhi," he said.
