Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister MD Mahamood Ali on Sunday said that the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was striving for the development of poor Muslims by offering many programmes.

The Deputy Chief Minister addressing the media after the Imams and Moazams came to Telangana Bhavan to thank the gesture of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to increase their honorarium.

Mahamood Ali said that the Chief Minister gave official language status to Urdu, started minority residential schools, provided financial assistance under overseas education scheme etc.

No other government in the country is taking up welfare measures like the TRS government led by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, he said. He further said that the Chief Minister was providing Rs 2,000 Crore for minorities in the State.

“The Centre provides Rs 4,700 crore for minorities in the budget but in Telangana Chief Minister provides Rs 2,000 crore in a budget of Rs 1 lakh crore, which shows the priority given to minorities by the TRS government,” he said. The muftis are happy and thanking the Chief Minister for increasing their honorarium.

Wakf Board Chairman Mohd Saleem said that the Chief Minister would make impossible as possible. He said 12 per cent reservations to Muslims would be implemented by the government at any cost.
