Hyderabad: Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister K T Rama Rao on Tuesday said that the TRS would use Pragati Nivedana Sabha on September 2, as a platform to tell what the government did for the people during the last 51 months and also what it is planning to do during the next five years.

Addressing media here at Kongara Kalan, venue for Pragati Nivedana Sabha, Rama Rao said that the party would use the public meeting to tell people what the government had done so far and what it has planned for the next five years.

The Minister said that this was not a meeting for early elections and recalled that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao in the plenary meeting of the party in April had said that there would be a public meeting in the month of October. When asked about TRS MP Sitaram Naik’s remarks that the party was ready for elections in December along with four other States, Rama Rao said that the party had nothing to do with the comments of the MP and they were individual comments. “No Minister in the cabinet has any information on dissolving the Assembly and the cabinet has not taken any decision as such. If he (Naik) has some information then they are individual comments,” he added.

However, the Minister said that the party was ready to face elections any time. “Facing elections is not new to the party. There is no need to take the Opposition parties seriously because people are not considering them. Our bosses are in ‘galli’ not in Delhi, not in Nagpur like others and we are answerable to people,” he said. Rama Rao said that there was no Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in the State. Rao said that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) would not have alliance with any other party and would go alone in the elections.

On allegations that TRS was getting closer to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Rao said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was meeting Narendra Modi as a Prime Minister and not has a BJP leader. The TRS leader said that the party would win more than 100 Assembly and 16 Lok Sabha seats in the coming elections. Replying to a question on expansion plans of MIM, Rao said that every party can go for expansion.

He said that the BJP cannot retain its five seats in the coming elections. Replying to another question, Rao said that many Congress leaders would be joining the TRS during the Pragati Nivedana Sabha. He also said that there may be few leaders from TRS who would be looking at different options and stated, “anyone can come, and anyone can go but we are confident that we will come into power.”
