Gajularamaram: Responding strongly to the story published in The Hans India on August 28 (‘Revenue officials allowing land-grabbers to take control of govt lands worth crores’) the Revenue department on Wednesday took up demolition of illegal constructions in survey no 329/1 and 342 in Devendernagar and Kaisarnagar areas. It used JBCs to pull down the structures. Department officials led by Qutbullapur MRO Gowtham Kumar, RI Sudhakar, VRO Rajinikanth, along with several VRAs, went round the unauthorised structures in Kattamaisamma locality and Kaisarnagar.

Sudhakar directed officials to register cases against land-grabbers. He asked the department to put up a fence around the government land. He warned that action as per law would be taken against land-grabbers. However, local residents while speaking to THI pointed out that the Revenue officials only demolished one or two small structures, besides the basements.

They described the department’s claim of taking up large-scale action against land-grabbers as only ‘hungama’. The residents pointed out the officials gave lame excuses when the media questioned them as to why total demolition of structures was not taken up. The officials claimed there were orders that those houses which have been whitewashed and where families lived should not be pulled down.
