Hyderabad: The city traffic police rendered help to transport organs from Lakdi-Ka-Pul to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport within 22 minutes through green corridor on Tuesday.

The transportation of organs became urgent, as the transplant recipient was waiting at an operation theater in Chennai for lungs. Dr Pavan Kumar Kulkarni of Gleneagles Global Hospitals wrote a letter to IPS Anil Kumar, thanking the police for their timely action.

“Once the organs are taken out from the donor, time is crucial and every minute counts,” Kulkarni said in the letter. With each passing minute, the success of transplantation decreases.

Through the green corridor, the traffic police cleared the road of vehicular traffic to ensure quick medical aid to patients.
