Security guard dies at government hospital

Tandur: Venkataiah, a security guard working at the district government hospital, died of cardiac arrest while discharging his duties on Sunday.  According to his family members, Venkataiah Mudiraj form Sangem Kurdu village of Yalal mandal had been working as security guard for the last 13 years as an outsourcing employee. He collapsed suddenly in the OP department after completing the night duty. His colleagues rushed him to emergency care and provided treatment but in vain.

The victim’s family members and colleagues staged dharna for six hours in front of the hospital demanding justice to the kin of his family. Sub-contractor assured them of a compensation of Rs 20, 000 and a job for the family. Expressing anger over this proposal, CITU leader Srinivas questioned the hospital superintendent “Is the value of a life just Rs 20,000? He further said that Venkataiah died due to harassment by the contractor for not giving salaries for the past three months.
