Katherine B Hadda  said, “We are witnessing a time in which the partnership between the US and India is ever more important”. She stated that the US-India relationship was not just a bilateral relationship but it had global ramifications for peace, prosperity and stability.

“And as the two largest democracies in the world, our partnership remains an exceptional inspiration to people and communities all over the world,” she added.

Congratulating the trainee officers for taking up an important role in the development of India, she said, “Each of you will have an opportunity to contribute to the strengthening of the US-India relationship, and I thank you for that, and welcome you to work with us.”

Replying to a query from a trainee officer, Hadda said: “The US-India partnership is rooted in shared democratic values and a commitment to a rules-based order. We support India’s emergence as a leading global power and as a key partner in our efforts to ensure that the Indo-Pacific is a region of peace, stability and growing prosperity.”

Speaking about commonalities between the United States and India, she shared, “One aspect of Indian democracy that fascinates Americans is the sheer size of the electorate and the mammoth exercise that is carried out every five years to hold a free and fair election.

This, along with India’s cultural pluralism, and its vibrant and independent institutions like the judiciary and free press, are some of the parallels that have brought our two great nations together”.
