Hyderabad: Telangana Disabled Cooperative Corporation Chairman K Vasudeva Reddy on Friday said that as a thanksgiving gesture for the promise of doubling the pension of disabled, the beneficiaries would seek votes for the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in the coming elections.

Addressing a press conference here, Chairman Vasudeva Reddy said that there are about 4,90,500 disabled beneficiaries in the State and the government was spending Rs 880 crore on them.

The beneficiaries would be touring district from Saturday to December 5 seeking votes for the TRS in the ensuing elections. Vasudeva Reddy said that the police have given permission for the vehicles to campaign.

Vasudeva Reddy said that the earlier rulers had ignored the handicapped persons. The rulers who did nothing for the handicapped are now talking about giving Rs 3,000 as pensions. The Congress and the TDP alliance is looking to deceive the people of the disabled community, he alleged.

Reddy said that the government implemented Handicapped Rights Act 2016.

Government is providing five per cent reservations in education and self-employment and four per cent in government employment. The disabled society is ready to campaign for the TRS for increasing the pension money to Rs 3,016, he added.
