Khammam: The employees of Food Corporation of India (FCI) staged one-day hunger strike as part of the nationwide protest over delay in wage revision, in the city on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the district secretary of the FCI Workers Union V Pryatham said on the call given by the Bhatiya Khadya Nigam Karmachari Sangh (BKNKS), the employees are observing one-day hunger strike before all the district, zonal and regional officers and FCI headquarters across the nation.

He alleged that the BKNKS has appealed to the higher officials of FCI several times seeking early settlement of wage revisions of categories III and IV employees with effect from January 1, 2017 and exclusion of 50 percent over-time allowance and fringe benefits and other demanded related to wage revision.

But the officials did not take any measures till date, he added. He warned that the agitation will be intensified until the FCI management fulfils their justifiable demands The members of the FCI Employees Union B Naresh, B Saidulu, Shirisha, Srinivas, Nazeer Pasha, Rajesh, Goutham, Krishna, Mahesh and Pulla Rao took part in protest.
