Chandrayangutta : Besides MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi who won with a majority of over 95,000 and fourth straight win from Chandrayangutta, the Bahadurpura candidate from the party, Mohammad Moazam Khan, stood winner by breaking his own record of 2014.
Akbaruddin, who has been continuously winning from Chandrayangutta constituency from 2004, this time won with a huge majority of votes 95,339. His closest rival, the BJP candidate Syeda Shahzadi received 15075 votes, while others M Seetha Ram Reddy (TRS) and Esa Bin Obaid Misri (Congress) received 14224 and 11309 respectively.
While MIM’s arch-rival MBT’s candidate Syed Mustafa Mahmood was reduced to less mere 499 votes. The brother of MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi and son of late Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi, Akbaruddin remained hot favourite in the constituency ever since the election campaign started. Even this time he continued with his fiery speeches touching local issues to national politics, he attracted huge crowds particularly youth during his election campaign.
Bahadurpura candidate and three time MLA, Moazam Khan broke his own record by winning the election this time in one of the big constituencies of City, with 96,993 votes. In 2014, he had won with 95,045 votes in one of the top strangleholds of the party. This time his closest rival, Mir Inayath Ali Baqri who is also chairman of SETWIN, received 14475 votes, while BJP’s Haneef Ali got 7395 votes.
Moazam Khan who began as giant slayer by defeating Danam Nagender by contesting in the then Asifnagar constituency (prior to delimitation) in 2004 (byelection) with a margin of just 2,110 votes has now touched close to 1 lakh vote margin (from Bahadurpura). Said to be from non-controversial background and educated family, after winning in 2004 from Asifnagar constituency, he won from Bahadurpura in 2009 and 2014.
Following declaration of results on Tuesday, Moazam Khan thanked brothers Asaduddin, the party chief and Akbaruddin for providing him party ticket for the fourth time. He thanked the people, workers and party supporters for their continuous support during all these years and ensuring his win this time with huge margin. “It was because of the people I won. I will assure that all their problems will be resolved and the entire constituency will be developed,” he asserted.
