Gadwal: During the second phase of training programme for the Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers in Gadwal district, Joint Collector Niranjan had instructed the officials concerned to perform their duties with full commitment, and if they have any doubts related to the panchayat polls they can clear them by asking questions to their higher authorities.

Speaking at a training programme at Balabhavan in Gadwal on Thursday, the Joint Collector said that the panchayat elections are held not using Electronic Voting machines (EVMs), but by using the conventional ballot papers. Therefore, the JC asked the officials to be extra cautious and advised them to ensure that there was no confusion created during the polling process.

“The panchayat elections are held using conventional method of ballot papers. Two colours of ballot paper, one pink and white, will be given to the voters. The officials must also clearly verify the details of the voters as they are already given photo-based voter slips and therefore, the ROs and AROs should not give scope for delay in conducting elections and ensure everything is completed in the given time period,” said the Joint Collector.

The polling process during the panchayat elections will be held from early morning to afternoon and after lunch, the counting process will begin. By evening, the elected candidates will be announced and later elections for the deputy Sarpanch will also be held on the same day, informed the JC.
