TRS leader and Banswada MLA Pocharam Srinivas Reddy unanimously elected as speaker of Telangana assembly. KCR who proposed Reddy as the speaker of assembly has held talks with the opposition parties to elect Srinivas Reddy unanimously following which no leader has filed the nomination papers for the speaker post.
Protem speaker Mumtaz Ahmed Khan began the election process and announced that Pocharam Srinivas has won the election unanimously. KCR, TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy and others escorted Srinivas to the speaker's post.
Born on February 10, 1949 in Pocharam village of Banswada, Parige Srinivas Reddy graduated as an engineer and entered politics in 1976. He joined Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in 2011.
