Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao has instructed the officers concerned to see that in the coming two years every road in Telangana should appear like a mirror.

The Chief Minister made it very clear that after irrigation projects top priority will be accorded to roads and highways. He further instructed that including the newly formed village panchayats all the 12,751 village panchayats in the state should be provided with BT road facility. He suggested to the R&B officials that an assessment has to be made about the existing conditions of the roads, the plan of action to make them appear like mirror as well as to prepare a plan of action. He said that necessary budget allocation will be made for this purpose.

KCR held a review meeting at Pragathi Bhavan on Saturday afternoon on the condition of state roads. Principal Secretary Rama Krishna Rao, Principal Secretary R&B Sunil Sharma, R&B ENC Ganapathi Reddy, SE Chandrashekhar, CMO officers Smita Sabarwal,Raja Shekhar Reddy, and others participated in the review meeting.

The condition of state roads and highways was reviewed. He said that after the formation of Telangana state at a record level the state could obtain national highways. Under the auspicious of R&B and Panchayat Raj construction of roads was taken up on a large scale. He said that roads in the state at several places need repairs, bridges need repairs and some bridges require widening. He suggested that the Principal Secretary R&B should call for a conference with all AEs, EEs, SEs and other R&B officers instructing them to come with all details of roads and their condition and the action to be taken. Notwithstanding the fact that which party MLA is representing the particular district, constituency or Mandal, repair works of the roads are to be undertaken.

The Chief Minister also suggested that the MLAs and other people’s representative should constantly monitor the progress of road repair. CM said that the R&B should develop a philosophy with regards to the transfer of roads from Panchayat Raj to R&B and from R&B to Panchayat Raj and the steps to be taken particularly during the transition period.

KCR said that the first time in the state which is not seen anywhere in the country construction of offices for MLAs has been taken up by the government and instructed the R&B officials to expedite completion of construction of these offices. He said that the quarters constructed newly in Hyderabad would be allotted to the MLAs.
