It may be mentioned here that the TRS government had wished to complete this scheme before the General elections and accordingly set deadlines for December 2017 and later August 2018, but due to teething problems on the ground could not complete it as desired.

Opposition parties went on an all-out attack against KCR and his party on this issue during elections reminding statements made earlier that the pink party would not seek votes in the next Assembly elections if it failed to complete the project on time.

In this backdrop, the fresh deadline by TRS government in the maiden session of the second Telangana Assembly has assumed significance. In his speech, Rajeshwar Reddy also mentioned how Chief Minister KCR is focused on making Telangana a power surplus State.

He said that Rao was known to personally monitor power production and usage on daily basis. Palla said that Telangana was in second position in the country in solar power production.

From a position of power deficit State, Telangana has reached a stage where it is providing 24-hour uninterrupted power supply, he said, reminding that power was one of the reasons why public of Telangana had reposed their faith in TRS party for a consecutive second term in office.

Palla also highlighted government's schemes and initiatives in the agriculture sector, especially Rythu Bandhu scheme, which has become a role model for several States in the country.
