22 hurt as drowsy driver ploughs RTC bus into fields

Vemulapally (Nalgonda): As many as 22 passengers suffered  injuries when an RTC bus of Kandukur depot of Prakasham district in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh overturned at Buggabavigudem of Vemulapally mandal in the district in the early hours of Friday.

According to sources, the Hyderabad-bound Kandukur depot bus, bearing vehicle number AP27 Z 0273, overturned as the driver of bus dozed off when the bus reached Buggabavigudem village at about 3.30 am.

After receiving information, the local police rushed to the spot and took part in the rescue operations and shifted all the 22 injured passengers to government area hospital in Miryalaguda for treatment.  

Of the 22 injured, three passengers Krupakar Rao, Kutumba Rao and Lalitha Devi suffered critical injuries. As many as 37 passengers were on board at the time of the accident.

Miryalaguda DSP Srinivas along with Rural CI Ramesh Babu and Tahsildar Rajeshwari visited the spot and enquired about the incident. Based on the complaint of passengers, Vemulapally SI Sudhir Babu registered a case against the driver and initiated the probe.
