He further added, “Allopathy provides quick relief but Ayurveda is based on technique and body and looks to cure the disease from the root.”

Arogya Fair, a three-day event for the promotion of Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy, is being organised by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in association with the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India and Government of Telangana.“Indian practices like Ayurveda, Unani and Yoga help make our lifestyle better by using nature-based healing systems without suppressing the disease,” says Vivek Seigell, Principal Director of the PHD Chamber.

“The general public does not know much about the benefits of Ayurveda. Indian medicines and practices work for the whole body. It is also hard to find teachers in India who could impart the importance of Ayurveda in an educative way, said Dr V S Varshini, Director, Department of Ayush, Telangana.

The consultations at the stalls are free of cost. In all, there are 50 stalls comprising drug manufacturers, healthcare product manufacturers, health food producers, medical practitioners, hospitals, clinics, research institutes, health and fitness systems, naturopathy centres and lab equipment and machinery would be present at stalls. However, at AYUSH stalls, the consultation and medicines are given for free.

Lifestyle diseases bane of societyLifestyle diseases are on the rise but there are answers in Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy avers Vivek Seigell, principal director, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry. According to recent studies, if lifestyle diseases are controlled the GDP would go up by 2%. Speaking on the response to the fair, a field sales executive of Dr Reckeweg’s Homeopathic Remedies said that it was early days and people would trickle in from Saturday.

He added, “The medicines are manufactured and imported from Germany. The R-27 medicine is known to cure kidney stones. There will no side effects to our medicines and we do not compromise on our quality. Consultation is free.” Jiji George, Technical Manager of Sitaram, a Kerala-based company, said, “We have been manufacturing 500+ classical and 50+ proactive medicines for 98 years. Ayurveda treats the whole body. It is more like food consumption than a medicine because it is made for long term usage.”

“We try to understand the deeper levels of body and its nature of the patient to understand rather than just focusing on the symptom. We also suggest diets and tell them what not to eat based on this. Items like turmeric is used for various reasons like skin care, food, wounds etc. similarly natural products help your body without having side effects” says Dr Mounika from the Sri Sri Tattva stall.
