Talk show on Hippos held at Nehru Zoo

Bahdurpura: On the occasion of National Hippo Day 2019, an education and awareness programme was organized at Nehru Zoological Park on Friday.About 150 students from six schools, along with zoo visitors, participated in the talk show. 

Under the guidance of the park curator, the talk show was conducted at the Hippopotamus enclosure, where in the zoo education officer and the zoo biologist briefed the participants about the hippos, their distribution, lifespan and the food fed to them. A special diet like Jowar Roti made up of Jaggery is fed to them, they said. 

There are two hippos in Nehru Zoological Park: one is Parwathi, a female hippo and the other is Gajani, a male hippo. The participants interacted with the animal keeper, R Pappaiah, and asked many interesting questions about hippos.
