Hyderabad: The Central Crime Station (CCS) sleuths on Saturday arrested an absconding accused P Rakesh Kumar in a cheating case. The accused was on the run for the past eight years.

Accused Rakesh (40, resident of Habsiguda) is presently residing in Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh. He was involved in two cheating cases of CCS, Hyderabad in 2012 and 2016 and two other cases under Cyberabad police stations limits.

Complainant D Satyanarayan and three others filed a complaint against the accused and J Veerabhadra Rao, who offered to sell flats at Nizampet. On which the complainant and three other victims paid an amount of Rs 64 lakh to purchase five flats.

After receiving the amount to construct the apartment, both the accused raised the initial basic structure and abandoned the work. The accused with false promises had diverted the funds to develop their other business.

Meanwhile, the land owner N Subramanyam Verma when observed the deceitful nature of the accused for non-completion of the apartment, cancelled the agreement with them and took back his land. Since then, the accused neither returned the money nor handed over the flats to the victims.
