Postcard agitation for upgrading Jadcherla into revenue division

Update: 2019-02-22 07:28 IST

Mahbubnagar: The local leaders from various organisations and political parties have launched a postcard agitation to further press for the demand of upgrading Jadcherla mandal into a revenue division on Thursday.

As part of their protest, the leaders led by Jadcherla Revenue Sadhana Coordinator Vadithya Ramesh along with Burgupally Krishna Yadav have written postcard letters addressing to Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and demanded that the government immediately heed to the demands of the Jadcherla people and upgrade Jadcherla into a revenue division.

“It is ironic that the Chief Minister has ignored our demands for turning Jadcherla into revenue division despite the fact that we were the first to agitate in favour of Jadcherla mandal to be upgraded as revenue division during the reorganisation of the districts. However, the CM did not heed to our demands then, but after coming to power for the second time, the CM had agreed to convert Kollapur mandal into revenue division and had ignored Jadcherla again.

We feel that our local leaders from TRS party had failed to put the demand effectively with the CM. Therefore, we have taken up the postcard agitation to ensure that our message reaches the CM and our demand is met,” said Vadthya Ramesh. The agitators reminded that in 2016, the then Health Minister Dr C Laxma Reddy had promised that if wherever there was slightest opportunity in the reorganisation, he would first press for the demand of upgrading Jadcherla into a Revenue division with the Chief Minister.

However, nothing had happened then and even after second term, when the CM had carved out two more districts and two more revenue divisions in the State, the local TRS MLA had failed to put the people’s demand with the CM and had miserably failed. That is why we are fighting for carving Jadcherla as a revenue division now, Ramesh added.
