Gachibowli: “The students of the Madarsas should avail of opportunities to fulfill their dreams of pursuing modern education,” said Dr Mohammad Aslam Parvaiz, Vice-Chancellor, at the two-day national seminar on ‘The Contribution of Madarsas in Promotion of Indian Culture, Civilization, Science & Arts,’ which began at Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) here on Wednesday.

Two years ago, MANUU launched a bridge course to facilitate the entry of Madrasa passouts into various streams of modern education but the response has been lukewarm.

The Vice-Chancellor said that there are courses to enable the students to join BSc, BCom, BA (Economic) or Polytechnic courses. He asked the audience, mainly consisting of Madarsa pass-outs and administrators to equip themselves with latest knowledge to face contemporary challenges. Madarsas has played an important role in nurturing the Urdu language, he admitted.

Noted scholar Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani in his address said that Urdu literature has grown up under the shadow of “Ulema” (Religious Scholars). The value of Arabic translation work carried out in India is no less than the Arab world itself, he asserted. Madarsas have burnt mid night oil to ensure the survival of Urdu language, he added. The literature work rendered by the scholars with Madarsa background, represents sweetness of Persian, grandeur of Arabic and combination of Islamic teachings. He expressed the need to link the Urdu language with Science enabling it’s readers to catch up with the rest.

Dr Rizwana Zareen, Principal, Jamiatul Muminath, Hyderabad, Mr Raheemuddin Ansari, Chairman of Telangana Urdu Academy, Hujatul Islam D Syed Nisar Hussain, Member of Telangana Wakf Board, Dr M Rizwan, Director of the seminar, Prof Shahid Naukhez, head of department, and Dr Janaid Ahmed were present.
