All efforts to make Hyd a safe city: Guv

Governor ESL Narasimhan on Wednesday said the government was planning to make the state capital a ' Safe City ' by providing Integrated Surveillance Camera Systems (ISCS) all over the city. Referring to the recent twin blasts which claimed 17 lives and left over 100 injured, the Governor said the state government did not exhibit any complacency in dealing with the heinous crime. Delivering his address to the joint session of both Houses of the state legislature on the opening day of the budget session, he said, " The recent ghastly incident of terror attack in the city enhanced our resolve and commitment for ensuring safety and security of the people of the state." The surveillance camera system all over the city in addition to bringing necessary amendments in relevant laws and rules would be given top priority to ensure safety of the city from any terrorist attacks in future, he said. A holistic approach was also taken towards victims of terrorist violence providing complete relief and rehabilitation, including bearing all medical expenditure, ex -gratia and jobs to the kin of those killed and permanently incapacitated, Narasimhan added. Claiming that the incidence of Left-wing extremist violence had declined, the Governor said the government was dealing the issue in a comprehensive manner through development and effective governance. With the support of the Centre, eight state border districts of the state bordering with Odisha, Chattisgarh and Maharastra were brought under Integrated Action Plan so that fruits of development could reach even in interior and remote areas affected by extremist activity. Referring to the increasing violence against women, he said a series of administrative measures were being taken for the safety and security of women with the help of the Centre. To create congenial environment in police stations, modern reception centres for women would be established in all stations soon. Listing out all welfare and development programmes taken up by the government, the Governor said the SC and ST Sub-Plans ( Planning, Allocation and Utilization of Financial Resources) Act would certainly bridge the existing gaps in development of those sections of the society. Predicting the state growth rate will be registered at 5.29 per cent as against the national average of 4.96 per cent for the year 2012-13, he said a separate budget for the farming sector which would be presented in 2013-14, was aimed at convergence of agriculture with the allied sectors and focus on devising strategies to achieve food and nutritional security and enhance bio -fuel usage optimally utilising the basic strength of the farming sector. He said the government targeted to complete 50 prioritised projects by 2013-14 creating a new irrigation potential of 34 lakh acres. He hoped that the Nagole � Mettuguda Corridor under Hyderabad Metro Rail Project would be completed by December 2014 well ahead of the schedule and to quench the thirst of city people, the phase one Godavari drinking water supply scheme would be completed by this year end.
