Telangana talks are progressing and a decision is possible only after the conclusion of the talks. This is understood to have been conveyed by Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde to Andhra Pradesh Governor E S L Narasimhan during their meeting in the Capital on Tuesday. The Home Minister is understood to have sought details from the Governor on the recent developments relating to the Telangana issue and the ground situation in the region. After the meeting, Narasimhan said, "It is a political process. They have to take a decision."
AICC General Secretary in-charge of Andhra Pradesh, Digvijay Singh, has made it clear that he would discuss the Telangana issue with the Congress leaders during his visit to Andhra Pradesh towards June-end. He said he would also take up the matter with the Congress High Command. "A decision that is in the best interests of the State will be taken," Digvijay told media persons in Bhopal.
Governor Narasimhan also called on Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram. In his meeting, the Governor is understood to have detailed the situation in the State. Recently, three Telangana Congress leaders had quit the party and joined the TRS. The Andhra Pradesh Assembly proceedings were also disrupted due to the demand of the TRS for moving a resolution on Telangana in the House. The Governor is also understood to have briefed Chidambaram on the prevailing situation in the State.
