- 'Bus yatra' in July as continuation of his walkathon
- Demands local bodies polls on party symbols
- 'Congress has made corruption as its manifesto'
- Regional parties will have to play a major role
Hyderabad : The two-day Telugu Desam Party Mahanadu which concluded here on Tuesday gave a clarion call to the rank and file not to leave any stone unturned to ensure party's victory in the elections starting from Panchayat Raj polls likely to be held in June to Assembly and Lok Sabha ones to be held in 2014.
In his valedictory speech, TDP supremo Nara Chandrababu Naidu said that it was a historic necessity for the TDP to come back to power since both the State and Centre were in dire straits. He said neither the UPA government was in a position to win nor was the NDA gaining in strength. Once again the regional parties will have to play a major role in forming the government at the Centre, he said.
In the State, Naidu said, people were fed up with the manner with which the Congress party had ruined the country and the State and had destroyed all the institutions. He said it had encouraged corruption on a large scale and the situation would change only when TDP comes to power. He said his party would hold the next Mahanadu on a much larger scale as ruling party in the State.
As a precursor to coming to power in the State, he said it was necessary that the party wins all the local body elections. He demanded that the State Government conduct elections to local bodies without further delay and also wanted the polls to be conducted on party symbols.A Naidu announced that he would undertake a 'bus yatra' in July to go to the people as continuation of his 208 -day 'Vastunna Mee Kosam' walkathon. He had covered 16 out of 23 districts during his pada yatra. The bus yatra would cover the remaining seven districts.
He said the party would take up training programmes in June for the party workers in each Assembly constituency and this would be followed by 'Intintiki Telugu Desam' (TDP at every doorstep) programme. Naidu said the party had gathered 1.5 crore signatures against the power tariff hike and it would present it to the state Assembly and then to the Governor.
The TDP chief told the cadre not to get carried away by the survey reports that are appearing now and then as they are not real and not scientific. Taking pot shots at Congress, YSRCP and TRS, he said, "Though the TDP cadre has no money, they have discipline which would bring the party to power." Naidu said the Congress party has made corruption as its manifesto and the TRS has no political values. Reiterating that the TDP was not opposed to separate T state and that it stood by its resolution in 2008, Naidu said TRS in connivance with Congress was trying to weaken TDP and goes on alleging that TDP has no clarity on T issue. "It is time to rebuff all such criticism and explain to the people the real situation," he added.
