Samaikya stir spreads to Agency

Vizianagaram: Government offices in the district wore a deserted look on the second day of Sakalajanula Samme as part of the Samaikyandhra movement on Wednesday. While the government employees participated in the agitation, the RTC buses were confined to the depots. The RTC employees took to the streets protesting, while the government employees staged a dharna in front of the Collectorate. They later formed a human chain at the Collectorate Cross Roads. Students blocked the roads. With this the private vehicles too were forced to stop services.

Activists of the three main political parties Congress, TDP and YSRCP continued with the agitation. At Dwarampudi of the mandal, students demonstrated with a 40-ft long national flag. Nearly 1,000 students participated in a rally carrying the flag. Similarly, students of a private school in the town took out a huge rally carrying a national flag measuring 200 ft.

Cinema theatres were closed. The teachers took out a huge rally in the town. Educational institutions will remain closed for a week. The Samaikyandhra agitation has spread even to the forest areas. Students organised rasta roko at Kurupam. Transport to other areas was cut off from the Agency. The Samaikyandhra agitation was intensified at Cheepurupalli, Garividi, Parvathipuram, Bobbili, S Kota, Kothavalasa, Saluru and Gajapthinagaram.
