policePaderu(Visakha agency): The rural police and the parents of Maoist top leader Ganesh alias Baakuri Venkata Ramana Raju made a fervent appeal to Ganesh at the Sadbhavana meeting conducted at Baakuru tribal hamlet, to join the mainstream and to work for the society. In a unique way, the rural police and the nearby-by villagers led by DIG, Visakha Range Swati Lakra, Superintendent of Police G Srinivas, Narsipatnam OSD A R Damodar, local DSP Adinarayana and other police personnel took out 'Sadbhavana Rally' from the Poturaju temple to the residence of Ganesh taking sweets, fruits, new clothes and other material as a token of respect to the aged parents. The DIG, SP and the OSD inquired the health condition of the aged parents of Ganesh and his wife and the way they were leading life without the assistance of their grown-up son. The officials asked the family members to make an appeal to Ganesh to join the main stream and the reward of Rs 20 lakh he was carrying would be given to him and he would be fully protected. Later, they spoke with Ganesh brothers-Baakuru Krishnam Raju, working as home guard and Baakuru Bonju Raju, a mechanic. The SP said that a sum of Rs 10,000 would be given to him to purchase a tool kit. Ganesh parents-Baakuru Narasinga Raju, Chinatalli and Ganesh wife Aruna alias Damayanthi told the officials that they would be more happy if Ganesh joined the mainstream. They also urged Ganesh to join the public life immediately and to see the welfare of family members. Ganesh family members reciprocated their love and affection towards the police higher-ups for showing respect. Later, the DIG, SP, OSD and other officials took lunch along with the Ganesh family members and villagers. Earlier in 2008 too, when Akun Sabarwal was the district SP here, he too had along with other officials visited the village to make an appeal to Ganesh.
