modernVisakhapatnam: Mr AP Choudhary, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), inaugurated a fully air-conditioned and renovated casualty block at the Visakha Steel General Hospital (VSGH) at Ukkunagaram here on Sunday. Mr Choudhary said that performance of the plant was largely dependent on the productivity of the employees and their health was of paramount importance to the company. It was the bounden duty of the organisation to take care of its employees who were immensely contributing to the growth of the plant, he said. He urged the staff working at the hospital to improve their skills in taking care of the employees' health needs as the plant was doubling its capacity. Due to increase in the number of road accidents and also due to age-related problems, there was a need to develop a good physiotherapy centre, Mr Choudhary said and advised VSGH authorities to develop the existing physiotherapy unit into a fully equipped unit to take care of the patients. Mr Umesh Chandra, Director (Operations), Mr P Madhusudan, Director (Finance), Mr YR Reddy, Director (Personnel), Mr NS Rao, Director (Projects), Mr B Siddhartha Kumar, Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO), and Dr MK Tripathy, General Manager (Medical & Health Services) attended. Employees' union leaders, representatives of Steel Executives' Association (SEA), staff of VSGH and employees in large numbers participated. The new facility was created in VSGH at an estimated cost of Rs 1.2 crore. Additional facilities provided were a 12-bed air-conditioned casualty unit, six-bed ACMU, male, female doctors' rooms, ECG room, individual medical gas pipelines for all beds, individual monitors for all beds and Ice-Lined Refrigerators (ILRs) unit for storage of medicines. The VSGH has other modern facilities, including a big burns unit, to cater to the health needs of the employees.
