‘Samaikyandhra Simha Garjana’ on August 14
Visakhapatnam: Members of the Professional Photographers and Videographers’ Union took out a rally up to Gandhi statue near Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) raising slogans against ‘T’ decision, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader K Chandrasekhar Rao and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi. They formed a human chain, paralysing vehicular traffic.
Telugu Shakti president meets KCR
Telugu Shakti president BV Ram met TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao at TRS Bhavan on Saturday and submitted a memorandum regarding ‘United States of India’ (USI). Mr Ram said all States were equal to one country in the world. “It is better to make each State as one country so that political unemployment will be solved and each district will become one State. Then, development will be possible,” he said. Mr Ram said all political leaders were eager for power and not for the welfare of people. He also met TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu and YSR Congress Party vice-president Sajela Ramakrishna Reddy and submitted memoranda regarding ‘USI’. Hyderabad Telugu Shakti president M Vamsi, G Sudhir and others accompanied Mr Ram.
‘Ksheerabhishekam’to Gandhi statue
Members of the local Cable Operators’ Association, led by managing director of SDV Channel Raju, took out a rally to the Gandhi statue near GVMC and performed ‘Ksheerabhishekam’ in which Mr Velagapudi Ramakrishanababu participated. The leaders condemned the remarks made by Union Minister for Science and Technology S Jaipal Reddy that CWC decision was like an ‘inscription’. They questioned him in what capacity he would impose it on the people of Andhra Pradesh. They raised slogans against Digvijay Singh, who was steering the ‘T’ issue.
Meanwhile, members of Private School Teachers’ Association took out a rally from the Old Jail Road to Jagadamba Junction and arrived at the Gandhi statue raising slogans against bifurcation of the State. They later formed a human chain as part of their protest.
Samaikya Simha Garjana poster released
TDP MLA Velagapudi Ramakrishnababu released a wall poster brought out by the Samaikyandhra Vidyardhi JAC, Girijana Vidyardhi JAC and other associations for the proposed Samaikya Simha Garjana to be held on August 14 at AU Engineering College grounds. Samaikyandhra leaders Areti Mahesh, Lagudu Govind, T Suresh Kumar, B Kantha Rao and others attended.
Cong. MLA protests
At another programme, Congress MLA Malla Vijay Prasad performed ‘Ksheerabhishekam’ to the statue of Amarajeevi Potti Sriramulu on the RK Beach Road in which a large number of party workers and leaders, including Kandula Nagaraju and Buddha Sivaji, attended.
Rasta roko organised
Members of Employees’ Union (EU) of Road Transport Corporation resorted to a road roko at Maddilapalem Junction demanding united Andhra Pradesh. Following the agitation, vehicular traffic on the National Highway No. 5 and in the by-lanes came to a halt for quite some time.
RTC relay fast continues
Meanwhile, members of the National Mazdoor Union (NMU) of RTC continued their relay hunger strike at Maddilapalem City Depot on Saturday demanding united Andhra Pradesh. More than 20 leaders participated in the relay fast. Union zonal secretary PVV Mohan and others spoke at the camp.
