Sahakara Aharam to feed the poor
As part of the programme titled ‘Annam Parabrahmam -Sahakara Aharam’, the leftover food supplied by hotels in the city would be used to feed the poor freely.
Hanamkonda: Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC), in association with local hotels, has embarked on a noble task of feeding the hungry.
As part of the programme titled ‘Annam Parabrahmam -Sahakara Aharam’, the leftover food supplied by hotels in the city would be used to feed the poor freely.
For this purpose, the Corporation has come forward to provide refrigerators at nine centres in the city to store food. The GWMC Mayor N Narender and Warangal Urban District Collector Amrapali Kata held a meeting with the hoteliers, tourism and the corporation officials in Hanamkonda on Tuesday.
The Mayor informed that every day large quantity of food would be leftover in hotels, at marriage functions and other events and at homes.
Such food after receiving from hotels and other sources would be stored at the refrigerating points and used to feed the needy.
Narender appealed the citizens and hotel managements in the city to lend their support to the worthy task of feeding the poor and handover the leftover food, suitable for consuming, by duly packing it to the storing points.
The refrigerating points would be set up at MGM centre, Hanamkonda bus stand, Warangal and Kazipet railway stations, Warangal Urban collectorate, Palamuru Grill and Pochamma Maidan along with two other locations.
The hotels in the respective areas would take up the responsibility of maintaining the refrigerating points. Coca cola and other companies have come forward to provide the refrigerators. The managements of City Grand, Tailanbaba, Haveli, Grand City, Palamuru Grill and Ratna Hotel consented to maintain the food stocking points, Narender said.
He informed that the programme would formally be launched on November 26. Joint Collector S Devanand, district tourism officer M Sivaji, food safety officer Ramakrishna, and managements of different hotels were present at the meeting.
