Agri College inaugurated at Regional Agriculture Research Station
The College established through GO Ms. No: 68, has started on the premises of the RARS from the current academic year with an intake of 60 students. In the first academic year, 35 girls and 25 boys are pursuing B Sc (Hons) Agriculture in the College.
Warangal: The Deputy Chief Minister, K Srihari, has formally launched the newly set-up Agricultural College on the premises of Regional Agriculture Research Station (RARS) at Mulugu road in Warangal on Thursday.
The College established through GO Ms. No: 68, has started on the premises of the RARS from the current academic year with an intake of 60 students. In the first academic year, 35 girls and 25 boys are pursuing B Sc (Hons) Agriculture in the College.
Speaking after launching the College, the Deputy CM has asked the Agriculture Minister, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, present at the ceremony, to allocate Rs 50 crore towards construction of a permanent building with required infrastructure.
Srihari expressed pleasure over more number of girls joining the College. Assuring to equip the College with minimum requirements, he asked the students to do well in their studies and earn accolades for the institution.
He said a proposal was made to build a permanent structure on 10 acres land adjacent to the RARS soon. The Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao, was keen to make Warangal an educational-hub. As part of such commitment the government has sanctioned Veterinary College, Tribal University.
A branch of Hyderabad Public School has been set up here already and in the days to come Sainik School would be established in Warangal urban district.
Agriculture Minister Srinivas Reddy said the government has allotted Rs 93 crore in 2016-17 budget towards infrastructure development in agriculture colleges in the State.
For Warangal college, funds would be released in two years in phased manner. Currently five degree and three postgraduate agricultural colleges were functioning in Telangana State.
The Minister asked farmers to engage in floriculture and allied activities to become financially stronger. With a proper planning, farming would not be a difficult task, he said while quoting the success story of an M Tech graduate engaged in floriculture in Nizamabad.
Jayashankar Agricultural University Vice-Chancellor V Praveen Rao appealed the public representatives to come forward to liberally donate development funds for the college.
