Hanamkonda: The Police Commissioner G Sudheer Babu has formed more SHE teams here on Thursday and provided them with two-wheelers.

The command area of the Commissionerate has been extended to Rural and Jangaon districts after Warangal district was split into five small districts.

Against this backdrop, Sudheer Babu has drawn a plan to extend SHE teams’ services to Jangaon, Parkal and Narsampet (in Rural Warangal) towns.

All these three towns will have four SHE teams each consisting of two women officers. Three interceptor vehicles have also been made available to back up these 12 new teams in case of any exigency. It may be noted here that the other 15 SHE teams working in the Commissionerate area have one Sub-Inspector of Police, a woman police officer and three constables each.

“The massive campaign we took since the launch of the SHE Teams concept hasn’t gone waste as we have caught as many as 503 offenders till date. First time offenders have been given counselling in the presence of their parents before they were let off,” the Commissioner told The Hans India.

In a bid to reach out the victims in double quick time, two-wheelers were provided to the SHE teams personnel, he said, referring to the complaints they receive through WhatsApp (94910 89257) messages and phone calls from girls and women. He appealed to people to come with their complaints if they have any to make Warangal a safe and secure city for women.
