Hanamkonda: Bharatiya Janata Party Warangal Urban district is gearing up to launch a series of agitations demanding the State government to expedite the construction of double bedroom houses meant for poor.

To begin with, a massive padayatra would be conducted in Hanamkonda on Friday. Party state president K Laxman would arrive in Warangal on the day to take part in the padayatra in town, party district president Rao Padma informed.

Speaking to press persons here on Thursday, she said the party would mobilise public to pressurise the TRS government to deliver all its election promises, besides the construction of double bedroom houses.

The beneficiaries were facing troubles due to delay in the construction of houses. Referring to her recent interaction with the beneficiaries at SR Nagar in the city, the BJP leader said the beneficiaries were forced to pay huge amounts of rents as the houses, where they lived, were demolished to make space for double bedroom houses.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, during his visit to Warangal two years ago, had promised the slum dwellers of completing the houses within a short span of time. ‘The CM told the slum dwellers he would join house warming ceremonies while asking them to prepare good lunch,’ Padma said.

Two years passed but the houses were not yet built. The Central government has sanctioned 90,000 houses to the State along with sufficient funds for construction purpose. The State government has been diverting these funds to Mission Kakatiya and Mission Bhagiratha, she alleged.

The public in the State were not happy with the TRS government as several promises remained unfulfilled. The BJP would mobilise people to fight against the government’s failures.

All these issues would be discussed at the party district unit’s extended executive meeting to be held at Nandana Gardens in Hanamkonda on Friday. Similarly, discussions would be held to prepare the party cadre for 2019 elections, Padma added. Party leaders A Rakesh Reddy, Ashok Reddy and others were present.
