Mancherial: Chukka Reddy, a farmer of Dowdapalli village in Luxettipet mandal, broke down after seeing his burnt red-gram crop spread over eight acres on the outskirts of Challampet.

The crop, which had thrived due to abundant rains, was ready for harvest when the mishap occurred. Reddy, who saw the burnt crop, said that he had suffered a heavy loss of Rs 2 lakh. On receiving the information, the Revenue department officers RI Vijaya and VRO Prabhakar conducted the ‘panchanama’.

They estimated the loss to be Rs 2 lakh. The officials told The Hans India, that they would take the crop loss suffered by Reddy, to the notice of their seniors.Among those present were Agriculture Extension Officer Srinivas and Sarpanch Padmavati Suranna.
