Coromandel International Private Limited (CIL) distributed scholarships under Coromandel Girl Child Education Scheme (CGCES) to the selected meritorious girl students studying in government schools of united Karimnagar district at a programme.

The ZP Chairperson, the chief guest at the programme, said that many parents from rural background will give more priority to boys and will stop girls’ education at a certain stage. It is good that CIL came forward to help girl students studying in government schools by giving scholarships to them, which would help them for their higher studies.

Speaking on the occasion, the CIL vice-president G V Subba Reddy said that the CGCE scheme is conceptualised with the aim of providing educational assistance to the girls of backward classes studying in government schools and to encourage them for continuing their studies further after tenth.

Scholarship of Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,500 will be awarded to two girl students, who stand in first and second position in scoring marks.

Local MLA Gangula Kamalakar and District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed distributed the scholarships to about 100 girl students selected from various government schools, in the form of ATM cards with the collaboration of State Bank of India.

District Education Officer Rajiv, CIL General Manager G Srinivas, Assistant Marketing Manager J Sajan Kumar, Deputy Manager K Srinivas, Assistant General Manager Sambashiva Rao and Swaraj were present along with others.
