Sircilla: The TRS government has been distributing fish seed on 100 per cent subsidy to strengthen fish corporation societies and the people, who depend on growing fish, District Collector D Krishna Bhaskar stated. He was the chief guest at an awareness programme on ‘Distribution of fish seed with 100 per cent subsidy’, organised for the representatives of various fish corporation societies, at Padmanayak Kalyana Mandapam here on Wednesday.

Addressing the participants, Krishna Bhaskar said that the government is striving hard for strengthening the financial system of villages along with uplifting different communities by introducing various schemes. Proposals were prepared for growing fish by introducing fish seeds in 95 tanks that were under fish corporation societies and in about 114 ponds present under village panchayats along with Upper Mannair Dam (UMD) reservoir.

This year fish seeds of two sizes – 49 lakh seeds of 35-40 mm size and 15 lakh seeds of 80-100 mm size - will be distributed.

The Collector said that seeds of Katla, Rahu and Bangaru Teegey fish, which will be of 35-40 mm size, will be distributed for growing in the ratio of 50:25:25 along with fish seeds of Katla, Rahu and Mrigala fishes of 80-100 mm size for growing in the ratio of 40:50:10 with the establishment of stocking points at Vemulawada, Sircilla and fish seed forum present at UMD.

Fish corporation societies’ representatives can collect fish seed packets from the said stocking points, he added. District cooperative officer M Shyam Sunder Reddy and district fisheries department officer B Anjaiah were present along with others.
