Take steps to achieve 100% literacy: ZP Chairperson
All fields in the State and nation will take place only when 100 per cent literacy is achieved and the officials must take necessary steps for achieving it by next year, pointed out Zilla Parishad Chairperson Tula Uma. She attended as a chief guest at the celebrations of 51st International Literacy Day, organised at ZP Conference hall in Karimnagar on Friday.
Karimnagar: All fields in the State and nation will take place only when 100 per cent literacy is achieved and the officials must take necessary steps for achieving it by next year, pointed out Zilla Parishad Chairperson Tula Uma. She attended as a chief guest at the celebrations of 51st International Literacy Day, organised at ZP Conference hall in Karimnagar on Friday.
The ZP Chairperson said the United World Organisation has declared September 9 as International Literacy Day after recognising the importance of education. As of now, the literacy rate in united Karimnagar district is only 69.16 per cent. Everyone in the district must strive hard for increasing the literacy rate to cent per cent by next year, she ordered.
Youth and women societies must organise special programmes by identifying illiterate people in villages along with conducting meetings (Gram Sabha) for achieving 100 per cent literacy in the district, she suggested.
Uma ordered the district education officer to issue an order to all school principals for motivating their students, who are studying in 9 and 10 classes to teach their illiterate parents how to read and write.
The village supervisors and mandal coordinators along with village coordinators must coordinate with each other for running adult education centres successfully in all villages. For strengthening adult education in the district, initiation will be taken by taking the issue to the notice of the Chief Minister along with writing a letter to the Central government, she assured.
Later, the ZP Chairperson handed over mementos to the members of various people’s organisations, who strived hard for increasing the literacy rate in villages. Zilla Parishad chief executive officer Padmaja Rani, state resource centre coordinator Sridevi and president of district development forum Tula Rajendar were present along with others.
