Students advised to develop sports spirit: Jagtial Collector

He inaugurated district-level schools’ games and sports competitions by lighting the lamp at the local stadium here on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that the students must develop sporting skills by playing various types of games from the school-level.
It is the responsibility of the physical education teachers (PETs) to identify the sporting skills in the students along with giving them perfect training for participating at national and international levels, he suggested.
Sharath also said that according to the ratio of population, India occupies second position next to China in the World. But, small countries like North Korea are performing well at Olympics and winning 20 per cent of the total medals. Parents must encourage their children along with identifying their abilities.
They must allow their children to select the field they are interested in along with asking them to concentrate on studies, he suggested.He ordered the officials to submit proposals for arranging facilities required for giving the students perfect training in sports and games so that they can perform well at different levels and to bring name and fame for the district and to make it stand on top position across the State.
Along with sports, students must also concentrate on studies. The teachers and the students must work hard to keep the first position in SSC results like that of last year, he pointed out.
District Revenue Officer T Shyam Prasad, District Educational Officer Venkateshwarlu, Jagtial Municipal Chairman T Vijay Lakshmi, MPP G Manasa and MPDO Narayana were present along with others.
