Hanamkonda: Efforts were on to develop Warangal as a sports hub, said MLA D Vinay Bhasker. He appealed the managements of private educational institutions and authorities of government institutions to contribute in that direction. The district educational department officials should take initiative to encourage students from both private and government schools take part in sports events.
Vinay Bhasker addressed a gathering at the inauguration of four-day Warangal Sports Festival at Jawaharlal Nehru stadium (JNS) grounds in Hanamkonda on Wednesday. Warangal was once known for its sporting talent and efforts were being made to regain the past glory in the field of sports, he noted.
Educational institutions should try to adopt students with sports talent and bring out hidden skills. The State government was laying special emphasis on Warangal after Hyderabad and has been organising regular events like Kite Festival, Kashmir Festival and others, he added.
