Luxettipet: Student organisations staged a dharna at Luxettipet-Uttoor crossroads on Friday, demanding immediate suspension of Gurukul School Principal Kavitha, alleging her negligence caused Sainidhi’s death.
Sainidhi, a class 8th student in Luxettipet Gurukul School and her friend Sirisha were allegedly being harassed by their senior. Dejected over the ragging, both the girls attempted to commit suicide by consuming acid in the school laboratory.
Sainidhi died on Thursday while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Hyderabad. Another student Sirisha is struggling for her life.
A few student organisations called for a bandh of educational institutions, following the student’s death. The girl’s body was brought from Hyderabad to her native place, Kouta B in Sarangapur mandal.
The police took the agitators into custody. BJP mandal president Boppa Satish, CPI leader Donda Prabhakar, Girijan student activist Indal Rathod, SFI leader Ranjit, BJYM leader Annam Sivaprasad and others participated in the dharna.
Mancherial RDO Shyamala Devi inspected the school to get details of the incident. She assured that justice would be done to the victim’s family. Steps would be taken to ensure that such incidents don’t recur in the institution, the RDO stated.
