Jagtial: The poly-house farming is gaining popularity, which could yield higher benefits to the farmers, observed District Collector Dr A Sharath.

He along with Rural Development Officer and District Horticulture Officer on Monday visited poly-house that was constructed by a farmer, Bhimanathi Manga at Dharmapuri village in Jagtial.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that to encourage poly-house farming, the government had sanctioned Rs 24 lakhs per acre to him for constructing poly-house in his three acres. He also got 75 per cent subsidy from horticulture department.

The farmer is growing Dutch roses in the poly-house, which has great demand in the market. The flowers will be exported to Mumbai, Delhi and Hyderabad, informed the Collector.

Through poly-house farming, the farmer can get a profit of Rs 12 to Rs 13 lakhs per acre in one year, other than the investments made by him, the Collector explained.
