Bathukamma a unique festival: Jagtial Collector
All the necessary steps were being taken for celebrating the State festival Bathukamma on a grand scale here on Wednesday which is unique of its kind where the people offer prayers to wide variety of flowers respecting Nature, informed District Collector Dr. A Sharath here on Monday.

The Collector participated in the Bathukamma celebrations organised under the Municipal Corporation by designing a massive 16-foot tall Bathukamma of 16 using seven quintals of different kinds of flowers here at the Telangana Thalli statue in Jagtial on Monday and offered prayers to Bathukamma.
Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that Bathukamma festival was a very special and important festival of Telangana State.
The Bathukamma celebrations are in full swing in every village and in every street across the district. By offering prayers to the Goddess ‘Bathukamma Gauri’ people would lead a happy and prosperous live without facing any hurdles in their lives, pointed the Collector.
Wherever women are respected, development takes place and peace prevails in the society. With the blessing of the Goddess Gauri Devi, the Jagtial district will lead intothe path of development,he opined.
Later, Dr A Sharath played Bathukamma with the women officials on grand scale. The Municipal Chairperson T Vijaylakshmi and Municipal Commissioner Sampath Kumar were present along with others.
