Peddapalli: District in-charge Collector S Prabhakar Reddy directed the officials of departments concerned to plant a variety of saplings under the third phase of ‘Telanganaku Haritha Haaram’ programme. He told them to complete the targets within the prescribed time limit.

He was chairing a review meeting with the Mandal Parishad Development Officers (MPDO’s) here at his chamber at the Collectorate here on Friday. Speaking at the meeting, the in-charge Collector instructed the officials to strive for completing the given target of planting of saplings under the Haritha Haraam programme within the prescribed time limit along with preparing the plan beforehand for successful implementation of the programme in the coming up year.

Prabhakar Reddy said that by purchasing the fruit yielding plants from the allotted Rs.10 crore funds for each MLA, around 30,000 saplings must be planted in the district. “Select good variety saplings of fruit yielding plants even though the cost of each sapling is Rs.250 to Rs.300,” he added. Since the cost of the saplings was high, the officials must select the beneficiaries who are fond of growing fruit yielding plants for proper utilisation of saplings, suggested the Collector.

The in-charge Collector said that several variety of fruits yielding saplings such as mango, lemon, guava, etc., must be grown in houses with great care. The officials while distributing the saplings, must geo-tag the saplings to get latest details of its growth.

People must be encouraged to come forward for growing more number of plants along with taking necessary steps for giving protection to the planted saplings, advised the in-charge Collector S Prabhakar Reddy. District Forest Officer Krishnma Chary, Peddaplli MPDO Satyanarayana and MPDOs of other areas were present on the occasion.
