Karimnagar: Mahatma Gandhi was one of the great persons, who laid foundation for the independent India, said Finance Minister Eatala Rajender.

He along with MLA Gangula Kamalakar garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and paid rich tributes on the occasion of Gandhi’s birth anniversary at Kothirampur in Karimnagar on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that Mahatma Gandhi was the only person in the world, who brought to freedom to the country by choosing the path of non-violence.

Irrespective of caste and religions, all people across the country were celebrating Gandhi Jayanti on a grand note on October 2. Gandhi dreamt of casteless society and to get rid of inequalities among the people along with establishment of ‘Grama Swarajyam’, which are not fulfilled till date, he pointed out.

All political parties across the nation and in the State must work in coordination with each other for establishing the society with equality.

Everyone must strive hard to fulfill the dreams of Mahatma Gandhi by making all the government schemes reach to village level so that the people can utilise them to develop economically, the Minister suggested.

Many people across the nation and in the State, are dependent on the agriculture. The government is striving hard to help and support the farming community present in the State.

By next year, the government will sanction Rs 4,000 per acre to each farmer. The government took this step to help the farmers, as part of Grama Swarajyam, the dream of Gandhi. City Commissioner Shashank, District Revenue Divisional Officer Raja Goud and Corporators were present along with others.
