He chaired a meeting of Warangal East constituency SC Cell workers in Warangal on Friday. Speaking to presspersons on the occasion, the Congress leader alleged that large scale corruption has been taking place in the corporation.
The ruling party leaders, corporators and the contractors were misappropriating public money in the name of development works. Public money was being wasted as the works being executed were of very poor quality.

In many cases, the ruling party leaders and corporators were executing the works by obtaining work contracts on benami names. Hence an enquiry by a sitting High Court judge has to be ordered into the irregularities in executing developmental works, Srihari demanded.

Though the corporation elected members and local TRS leaders making tall claims on State and Central government allocating and releasing huge amounts of funds there was no visible development under the GWMC limits.

The condition of main roads and roads in residential colonies was pathetic. As a result, the citizens in the city were suffering a lot, becoming victims of road accidents often and valuable lives were being lost, he complained.

The promise of constructing underground drainage in the city within three months of TRS coming to power was not delivered even after three years passed by. Immediate steps must be taken to launch the works to construct underground drainage system, Srihari demanded.

Minister KTR, who is going to review progress of works under the corporation limits on Saturday, should verify the details of works launched, their progress and the money spent, the Congress leader noted. He also wanted the Minister to direct the GWMC to clear pending payments of sanitary workers.

Agriculture market committee former chairman M Vinod Kumar, BC cell president Kothapalli Srinivas, Warangal urban minority cell president Md Ayub, SC cell president P Vijay, leaders Jannu Ravi, K Rajesh and others were present.
