Mahabubabad/Hanamkonda: The sacrifices of police across the country have been playing an indispensable role in protecting the integrity of the nation, noted Mahabubabad Superintendent of Police N Koti Reddy.

He said every year hundreds of police were laying down their lives in the line of duty. The citizens should appreciate and honour their sacrifices to ensure law and order in the society. The Police Martyrs Commemoration Week offers an opportunity to remember sacrifices made by the police.

Unlike in the past, police were now increasingly involving themselves in developmental activities launched by the government.

The police in Telangana State have become more people-friendly and it was yielding good results in ensuring effective law and order, the SP said while taking part in Open House organised by district police at NTR Stadium at Mahabubabad on Tuesday.

A mob controlling mock drill was presented by the police. Stalls containing arms, equipment related to bomb disposal, finger prints, communication, breathe analysers and bullet proof jackets were put up at the stadium.

The SP Koti Reddy interacted with school students and explained functioning of AK 47 assault rifle and others to them. He also explained about the equipment used by police in their duties to Illandu MLA K Kanakaiah and District Collector Preethi Meena.

In Warangal, a candle rally was led by Commissioner of Police G Sudheer Babu from Ashoka Centre to the Martyrs Memorial at the commissionerate headquarters on the day. Large number of police and their family members took part in the rally holding candles as a mark of respect to the martyrs.

Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner asked the serving police personnel to draw inspiration from the martyrs and continue to serve the society with renewed dedication.

DCPs MS Gopal Rao and Md Ismail, ACPs B Janardhan, Muralidhar, Chaitanya Kumar, I Pooja, and S Shoban Kumar, Police Officers Welfare Association president Ashok Kumar and others were present.
