Peddapalli: District in-charge Collector S Prabhakar Reddy directed the officials concerned to cooperate with the contractors to ensure speeding up of double bedroom houses constructions.

He held a review meeting on the progress of construction works of 2BHK with officials and contractors at the Collectorate here on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said 665 houses have been sanctioned in the first phase. Only one out of the 22 tenders was finalised. Ensuring that the contractors would not get any loss and payments will be made on time, he asked them to come forward to take up the works.

He said that cement bag, which is Rs 350 in the market, will be supplied to them for Rs 230. The funds allocated for construction of each house is Rs 5.04 lakh.

The construction works of double bedroom houses was delayed for nine months due to non-availability of local contractors in the district. The cost invested will be less if more number of houses are constructed at one place.

If there are any technical issues the officials must take steps to overcome them, Prabhakar Reddy suggested.

If any new contractors are willing to take up construction works under the housing scheme, they will be given opportunity by registering their names, the in-charge Collector assured.

Executive Engineers Krishna Murthy (Roads and Buildings) and K Venkateshwara Rao (Panchayat Raj), Deputy Engineers K Lachaiah and Jaya Prakash, Assistant Engineers, Contractors G Ramesh (Ramagundam), G Kumar (Sultanabad), Kumar Yadav (Dharmaram) and others were present in the meeting.
