Gulf job seekers told to opt for safe, legal migration
The people of Telangana who are intended to go to Gulf countries for employment must opt for safe and legal migration, Shanshank Goel, Principal Secretary of Department of Labour.

Goel along with District Collector D Krishna Bhaskar inaugurated a two-day workshop and special passport mela organised under Ministry of External Affairs in association with Government of Telangana, Overseas Manpower Company Limited (TOMCOM) and UN Women and Indian Centre for Migration (ICM), at Podupu Bhavan in Rajanna Sircilla district on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Goel said many people who were having minimal working skills were preferring to work in Gulf countries and were facing hardships later.
“Before going to such countries, one should opt for safe and legal migration methods. As part of that, workshops are being conducted to create awareness among the people,” he added.
He stated that the situation prevailing in Gulf countries, their systems, law and salaries would be explained in the workshop for the people who attend it by as many as 35 trainees. The people who attended the workshop would further conduct awareness programmes in villages for people who intended to go to Gulf countries.
Stating that many gullible were getting cheated by bogus agents, Goel advised people to prefer only the government recognised and authorised agents.
District Collector D Krishna Bhaskar, who stated that many from the district have been migrating to Gulf countries in search of greener pastures for the last 50 years, has asked the people to attend the awareness camp and clear their doubts. “The governments are ready to solve the issues people are facing with migration,” he added.
Regional Passport Officer E Vishnu Vardhan said people must remember four important points before they wish to go to other countries.
They should make sure they have necessary skills for the job they were aspiring for, get a passport, clearance of immigration and finally have awareness about law in that countries.
Rural Development Officer Vishnu Vardhan Reddy said about 4 lakh passports would be issued every year with the new system that was introduced.
TOMCOM Chairman Ranga Reddy, UN Women representative Ajitha, TOMCOM General Manager K Naga Bharati, Regional Passport Officer of Hyderabad P Ashok Kumar, District Revenue Officer Shyam Lal Prasad, District and Rural Development Officer Ravinder, among others, were present.
