Hanamkonda: BJP leaders here have taken serious exception to Congress leader A Revanth Reddy’s comments against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The BJP state official spokesperson, A Rakesh Reddy, condemned the Congress leader’s reported remark that the PM Modi and the Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao, were both hand in gloves and their display of hostility was just for the sake of show off.

Working hand in gloves with political rivals was not the tradition of BJP and such traditions belong to Congress.

Congress leaders, who were known for corruption and nepotism, lack moral right to criticise the PM, who has been working hard for a corruption free governance, he said.

Speaking to presspersons in Hanamkonda on Tuesday, the BJP leader said several Congress and TDP legislators, who won on party ticket, have joined the TRS. But not a single BJP legislator in Telangana extended support to CM Chandrashekar Rao.

Referring to Revanth Reddy’s allegation that some BJP leaders were trying to help Chandrashekar Rao to become the chief minister in 2019 elections, Rakesh Reddy said it was coverts in Congress, who were engaged in such a task.

Revanth Reddy, who failed to make any valuable contribution to strengthen the TDP, was now claiming to bring Congress to power in the next elections.

None would object his reasons to quit TDP and joining Congress, but he should not make meaningless and baseless allegations against BJP, he warned.

Rakesh Reddy sought to know from Revanth Reddy, why the public in Telangana should support Congress? It was because of that party, hundreds of youth in the State committed suicides while fighting for the cause of separate Telangana.

The BJP leader objected the Marketing Minister, T Harish Rao’s blaming of Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) for the crisis related to cotton procurement in the State.

The CCI has set up huge number of procurements but it was due to State officials’ negligence the farmers were suffering.

Rakesh Reddy demanded that the State government should offer a bonus of Rs 1,000 to cotton farmers as it was being done by neighbouring Maharashtra and other states.

Similarly, an ex-gratia of Rs 25 lakh should be given to the families of farmers, who committed suicides.
