Couple attempts suicide in Nizamabad

Nizamabad: A couple, who supply mid-day meals to a government high school in Renjarla village of Mupkal mandal, attempted suicide in front of the Nizamabad Collectorate on Monday.

The police foiled their attempt, who tried to end their lives by setting themselves afire using kerosene. The couple - Sunitha and Ramesh of Renjarla village – said that the village sarpanch dismissed them from their duty of supplying mid-day meal, by pressurising the headmaster of the school.

The couple went to the Collectorate to submit their representation regarding the issue at Prajavani programme. After seeing the heavy rush there, they attempted suicide.

The couple alleged that the sarpanch wanted to replace them with his followers as the salaries of the mid-day meals employees have increased recently.
