Hanamkonda: The onus is on the officials to attract the deposits and as well as the number of account holders in the District Cooperative Central Bank (DCCB), Warangal Rural District Collector Prashanth Jeevan Patil said.

Speaking at the district-level monitoring and review meeting with the DCCB officials here on Tuesday, the Collector said that there is an imperative need to focus on increasing saving accounts and deposits.

“As the DCCB is providing 0.5 per cent interest more than other commercial banks, there is a need for creating awareness among the farmers and drive them to deposit their savings with the DCCB,” Patil said.

The bank had been able to achieve just Rs 257 crore deposits against the target of Rs 298 crore set by September 2017.

Recent developments in the DCCB may have created some doubts in the minds of farmers that eventually led to the fall of deposits, however, there is nothing to worry as the bank is running profitably, the Collector said.

He directed the officials to focus on loan recoveries and as well as dispensing timely crop loans to farmers.

NABARD GM Satya Prasad, regional cooperative society additional registrar Srinivas Rao, TSCOB GM Muralidhar Rao and DCCB CEO B Anjaiah were among others present in the review meeting.
