Maoist surrenders in Eturnagaram
An underground activist of CPI (Maoist) Party Kondagorla Ravinder alias Vinod surrendered before Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Eturnagaram, Rahul Hegde BK at Eturnagaram in the district on Tuesday.
Bhupalpally: An underground activist of CPI (Maoist) Party Kondagorla Ravinder alias Vinod surrendered before Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Eturnagaram, Rahul Hegde BK at Eturnagaram in the district on Tuesday.
The surrendered Maoist was deputy commander of Eturnagaram-Mahadevpur Area Committee and member of Jayashankar Bhupalpally-Mahabubabad-Peddapalli-Warangal (JMPW) Area Committee, previously known as Khammam-Karimnagar-Warangal (KKW).
He was carrying a cash reward of Rs 4 lakh on his head. Speaking to presspersons, the ASP, Hegde, informed that Ravinder hails from Bore Narsapur village of Mangapet mandal in the district. He studied up to 5th class at Mangapet and discontinued his studies. Later he worked in a printing press at Mangapet from 2009 to 2012.
He went underground in 2013 and worked in Illandu-Narsamapet Area Committee from 2013 to 2015.
During the period of 2015-2016, he worked as guard to Apachi Narayana alias Ramesh, member of Maoist Party Production Team (Weapon team) and was trained in weapons production.
Later he was promoted as Deputy Commander of Mahdevpur-Eturnagaram Area Committee and was allowed to carry SLR weapon.
Ravinder was said to be involved in burning of TATA Magic Vehicles on the outskirts of Duddeda village of Chhattisgarh, burning the vehicles of road contractor at Tekulagdudem, exchange of fire with police at Bottentang in 2016 and attack on CRPF forces at Burkapad in 2017.
Since he was disillusioned with Maoists ideology decided to spend normal life in the society by surrendering before the police, the ASP stated. ‘The Maoists who intends to give up violence could surrender before the police without any fear’.
“Nothing could be achieved by fighting from the forests. I appeal the Maoists to give up the party’s outdated ideology and arms and join mainstream life to live with your families peacefully. Those surrendered would be provided relief from the government,’ he said.
